Concerned about Lead Paint, Asbestos or Water Quality? Make sure it’s Damngood!
When purchasing a home, comprehensive environmental tests play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the future occupants for many years to come. For properties relying on private or well water sources, conducting a thorough water quality test becomes absolutely essential to accurately detect any potential contaminants that could pose significant health risks to residents. Additionally, homes built prior to 1977 may contain hazardous materials that include asbestos, which is commonly found in flooring, popcorn ceilings, and various types of insulation, as well as the potential presence of lead in the paint used throughout the property. Both lead and asbestos can become serious hazards during renovations if they are disturbed, highlighting the critical need for proper mitigation as officially recommended by the EPA to ensure a safe living environment. By prioritizing these important environmental assessments, prospective homeowners can make well-informed decisions that ultimately protect their health and the health of their loved ones, thus ensuring peace of mind in their new homes.

If your property is on well water, it's essential to ensure the water is safe for drinking and household use. Well water can be contaminated by natural minerals, bacteria, or chemicals from nearby industrial or agricultural activities. A water quality test helps identify potential health risks and ensures your water is safe for consumption.

Asbestos was commonly used in building materials such as popcorn ceilings, insulation, and flooring in homes built before 1977. If disturbed, asbestos fibers can be released into the air, posing serious health risks, including lung disease. An asbestos test can determine if these materials are present in your home.
-
Lead-based paint was commonly used in homes built before 1977. Lead exposure, particularly through dust from deteriorating paint, can pose health risks, especially to children. Testing for lead paint can help you determine if lead is present in your home and if it poses a risk.
-
According to the EPA, asbestos and lead paint do not typically pose a health hazard if left undisturbed. However, if you're planning a renovation that could disturb these materials, it’s crucial to follow proper environmental mitigation practices. Both asbestos and lead paint removal require specialized procedures to safely remove and dispose of these hazardous materials.
-
Asbestos and lead paint testing involves removing a small sample of the suspected material, which is considered an invasive inspection. The samples are then sent to a laboratory for analysis, and the results typically take 2 to 3 business days. We’ll provide a detailed report outlining any findings and recommendations.
